12th Judicial Package: Identity Verification for Social Media and 'Alo Justice' Era Begins

Digital Responsibility and Identity Verification As part of the preparations for the 12th Judicial Package, new steps are being taken to increase legal responsibility in digital spaces.
Following parliamentary approval, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) will implement a mandatory identity verification system for social media accounts.
This measure aims to prevent disinformation and the spread of criminal elements on digital platforms.
European Standards in Juvenile Delinquency The new package also includes a comprehensive change to the definition of "children driven into crime." In coordination with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, existing criteria are being re-evaluated, using the 10-year age limit applications in Europe as a model.
This regulation is expected to be brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by the summer months.
AI-Powered 'Alo Justice' Hotline To facilitate access to judicial services, the "Alo Justice" hotline project is being launched.
The system, which will first be piloted in Istanbul, will be supported by artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Citizens will be able to submit applications and information requests regarding judicial processes through this channel via telephone, email, and the Presidency's Communication Center (CİMER).
The legislative work is expected to be enacted and enter into force in the coming period.
