According to 2025 data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of marriages in Turkey fell to 552,237 while divorces rose to 193,793, with 34% of divorces occurring in the first five years.

Decrease in Marriages, Increase in Divorces The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the marriage and divorce statistics for the year 2025.
According to the data, the number of couples getting married, which was 569,983 in 2024, decreased to 552,237 in 2025.
The crude marriage rate, which represents the number of marriages per thousand people, was recorded at 6.43.
The number of divorces rose from 188,963 in 2024 to 193,793 in 2025, with the crude divorce rate reaching 2.26 per thousand.
Average Age at First Marriage Continues to Rise An analysis of the average age at first marriage over the years shows an increase for both genders.
In 2025, the average age at first marriage was determined to be 28.5 for men and 26.0 for women.
The average age difference between men and women at first marriage was 2.5 years.
On a regional basis, Gaziantep recorded the highest crude marriage rate at 7.76 per thousand, followed by Osmaniye at 7.68 and Şanlıurfa at 7.50.
The province with the lowest marriage rate was Tunceli, at 4.18 per thousand.
The lowest divorce rate was seen in Hakkari at 0.51 per thousand.
Analysis based on the duration of marriage revealed that 34.0% of divorces in 2025 occurred within the first five years of marriage.
Regarding international marriages, 5,347 foreign grooms and 28,646 foreign brides were recorded.
Following finalized divorce cases, custody was granted for 191,371 children; 74.6% of these children were placed in the custody of their mothers, while 25.4% were placed with their fathers.
