Economic Hardship and Purchasing Power Future Party Yozgat Provincial Chair Ömer Aydoğmuş has shared his evaluations regarding Turkey's current economic situation.
Comparing today's economy with the period of Ahmet Davutoğlu’s premiership, Aydoğmuş emphasized the sharp decline in citizens' purchasing power.
Aydoğmuş stated that the financial struggles of citizens are directly reflected in their kitchens, noting that economic stability was once felt as peace in the home.
He expressed that meeting basic food needs has become difficult today.
"When people went to the market in the past, they could fill their bags and didn't struggle as much as they do today when calculating the end of the month.
Today, putting two types of food on the same table has become a luxury for many families," he said.
Impact on Social Life and Hospitality Aydoğmuş pointed out that the economic contraction is also negatively affecting social relations, specifically mentioning the hesitations citizens in Yozgat face regarding hosting guests.
He argued that traditional hospitality is being restricted due to costs and that the economic situation is changing cultural habits.
"In the past, it was said that 'a guest comes with their abundance.' Today, our fellow citizens are afraid to invite guests to their homes.
If we are calculating even a plate of treats to serve with tea, it means there is a serious economic problem," Aydoğmuş remarked.
"Real Growth is Measured by Welfare" Drawing attention to the gap between official economic data and the reality experienced by the public, Aydoğmuş stated that real growth should be measured by the citizens' standard of living rather than just figures.
Emphasizing that retirees, workers, and farmers are struggling to make ends meet, Aydoğmuş called on the government to review its economic policies, stating that social welfare is equivalent to peace in the kitchen.
