New Legal Regulations and Penal Sanctions The Bill on Amending the Highway Traffic Law has been accepted by the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and has become law.
With the new regulation, sanctions for using vehicles outside their registered purpose and for unauthorized passenger transportation have been significantly increased.
Accordingly, an administrative fine of 100,000 TL will be imposed on those who transport passengers without obtaining a working permit or license from the relevant municipality.
License Seizure and Recurrence Conditions The licenses of drivers found to be transporting passengers without authorization will be confiscated for 30 days.
If this violation is repeated within one year, the administrative fines will be applied at double the amount.
In order for driver's licenses to be returned, the condition that all administrative fines imposed must be collected will be sought.
This step aims to be a deterrent in preventing unregistered transportation.
Emphasis on Safety and Service Quality from TŞOF The President of the Turkish Drivers and Automobilists Federation (TŞOF), Yiğiner, stated that the regulation is a critical step in protecting the rights of tradesmen.
Pointing out that unlicensed taxis pose serious security risks for citizens, Yiğiner reminded taxi drivers that they must also increase customer satisfaction and avoid mistakes such as selective passenger picking.
Yiğiner also expressed demands for the removal of penalty points resulting from technical malfunctions from drivers' records and the resolution of professional grievances.
