Kick Influencer Deniz Sinan Demir Detained Over 'Inciting Hatred and Enmity' Investigation

Public Backlash and Apology Social media influencer Deniz Sinan Demir issued an apology following widespread public backlash over remarks made during a live stream on the Kick platform.
Demir claimed he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, stating that he spoke uncontrollably and expressed deep regret for his actions while asking for public forgiveness.
Legal Action and Detention Despite the apology, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation into Demir.
The investigation was initiated under the Turkish Penal Code article regarding "inciting the public to hatred and enmity or insulting them." Following the prosecutor's instructions, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Security Branch identified and detained Demir.
Authorities reported that the judicial process regarding the suspect is being meticulously carried out as his statement is taken at the police station.
