KVKK Launches Investigation into Six Social Media Platforms Over Children's Data Protection

The Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) has launched an ex officio investigation into six major social media platforms—TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, and Discord—to audit their processes for handling children's data and their existing security measures.
To ensure that children are protected from potential risks in the digital environment, the authority will scrutinize the data security protocols and risk management strategies employed by these platforms.
The investigation aims to determine whether these companies are operating in compliance with legal regulations regarding the processing of minors' personal information.
