Digital Habits and Attention Span Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş highlighted that the average attention span of individuals has dropped to as low as 8 seconds, evaluating the impact of digital habits on child development.
Stating that research shows at least a 30 percent decrease in children's attention spans over the last 10 years, Göktaş emphasized the risks this situation poses to academic success and social development.
Challenges in Educational Processes Expressing that changing digital habits have also made educational processes more difficult, Minister Göktaş mentioned the challenges teachers face in light of this new reality.
The new regulation, which aims to make children's presence in the digital world more protected, is planned to minimize these issues.
Call for Cooperation for a Safe Internet Stating that the work carried out to provide a safer internet environment for children will be completed shortly, Göktaş noted that cooperation with parents and educators is of critical importance in this process.
The Ministry continues to follow a comprehensive roadmap to protect children from digital risks.
