GENÇLİG 2026 Promotion Event Held The Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) held the promotion ceremony for the "GENÇLİG 2026" High School Football Tournament at Volkswagen Arena.
The event was attended by numerous high-level officials from the sports community and the political world.
Present at the ceremony were Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, TÜGVA High Advisory Board Member Bilal Erdoğan, TÜGVA President İbrahim Beşinci, and Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu.
Other notable attendees included TFF Vice President Mecnun Odyakmaz, National Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella, Beşiktaş Club Vice President Hakan Daltaban, and Fenerbahçe Club Football Branch Manager Ertan Torunoğulları.
Protocol and Former Footballers Take the Field As part of the event, an exhibition match was held, officiated by referee Halil Umut Meler.
The match featured a red team coached by Hikmet Karaman and a white team coached by Rıza Çalımbay.
The Red Team included Bilal Erdoğan, Osman Aşkın Bak, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Emre Belözoğlu, Mario Jardel, Necati Ateş, Mehmet Topal, Tuncay Şanlı, and Selçuk Şahin.
The White Team consisted of İbrahim Beşinci, Volkan Demirel, Serdar Aziz, Enes Eminoğlu, Mesut Özil, Ümit Karan, and İlker Yağcıoğlu.
Politics and Sports Agenda The event took place following recent statements by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the influence of politics in Turkish football.
Erdoğan noted that while politics exists in every field, success in football must reach the desired levels.
"Is there any place where politics does not enter?
Despite all this, when it comes to success, it always hits rock bottom.
We must overcome this now," Erdoğan had stated.
