The BIST 100 index gained 23 percent in January, setting new records on 17 out of 21 trading days.
While market experts initially expected these levels to be reached in the first half of the year, the early achievement of these targets has prompted upward revisions in index forecasts.
Foreign Investor Interest and Economic Indicators The primary factors supporting the index's rise include the economic management's determined stance on the disinflation process and the increasing interest of foreign investors in Turkish assets.
Foreign inflows in the first month of 2026 alone surpassed the total for the entire year of 2025, with entries into the stock and bond markets approaching $8 billion.
During this period, Turkey's 5-year Credit Default Swap (CDS) fell to its lowest levels in 7.5 years, reinforcing market confidence.
Prominent Sectors and Company Performances While financial leasing, factoring, brokerage firms, and the technology sector were the highest earners in 2025, the mining and financial leasing sectors have taken the lead in the early weeks of 2026.
Last year, companies such as KLR Holding, Işıklar Enerji, and Gımat Mağazacılık provided the highest returns within the BIST 100 index.
As of early 2026, stocks like Destek Finans Faktoring, Batı Söke Çimento, and Katılımevim have displayed noteworthy performances.
2026 Projections and Sectoral Potential According to financial analysts, the banking, defense, retail, automotive, and telecommunications sectors are expected to leave their mark on the index in 2026.
In particular, REITs with strong shopping mall portfolios and energy companies with low debt ratios are expected to remain on investor radars on the path toward the 20,000-point target.
