US New Home Sales Data Released The US Census Bureau has released the new home sales statistics for December 2025.
According to the data, new home sales in the United States decreased by 1.7% in December to a level of 745,000, following the nearly four-year peak recorded in the previous month.
Market expectations had anticipated sales to drop to 730,000.
With the actual figure remaining above expectations, sales recorded the second-highest monthly performance within the last year.
In the Midwest, sales increased by 31.7% to 108,000 units, while in the West, they rose by 9% to 170,000 units.
In contrast, the Northeast saw a sharp decline of 37.3%, falling to 37,000 units, and the South experienced a 6.7% decrease, dropping to 430,000 units.
The declines in the South and Northeast were partially offset by the strong increases in the Midwest and West.
Housing Supply and Inventory On the housing supply side, market inventories decreased by 2.7% on a monthly basis, falling to 472,000 units.
