Visa Plans to Provide Data Support to Blockchain Credit Market

Program Growth Visa’s stablecoin‑linked card programs have more than doubled in the past year, rising to over 160 issuers.
Cuy Sheffield, head of Visa’s crypto unit, said the programs are in a period of “hyper‑growth” and that new issuers and fintech firms join the network every week.
Data Support and Credit Infrastructure Visa plans to merge the payment and settlement data it collects from these card programs with on‑chain credit infrastructure.
The combined data will allow credit providers to assess the financial health of digital‑asset‑focused fintech companies and card issuers more closely.
“We’re working on new financing models through smart contracts and on‑chain credit mechanisms,” Sheffield said.
Pilot Program and Past Performance In a pilot with Credit Coop, Visa reported that roughly $700 billion in stablecoin credit has been issued via blockchain‑based credit protocols over the past six years.
The growth has been accelerated by the GENIUS Act, which clarified stablecoin regulation in the United States.
Platform Developments In July, Visa launched a platform that supports stablecoin payments and related card programs.
The platform is designed to simplify lenders’ access to blockchain data and speed up financial analysis processes.
By increasing transparency and accessibility in the blockchain credit market, Visa’s initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for new business models within the fintech ecosystem.
