The index, which started the day with a 0.16% decrease compared to the previous close at 13,782.50 points, tested the 13,914.32 point level with reaction purchases during the day but could not maintain stability in this region.
Escalating tensions between the US and Iran and increasing war concerns in global markets stand out as the primary reasons for the selling pressure.
Domestically, investors maintain a cautious stance following a sharp 3.20% loss in value on Thursday.
Towards midday, the index was pressured again, retreating to 13,755.70 points.
Sectoral Divergence and Trading Volume In the first half of the day, the total trading volume reached 76.4 billion lira.
On a sectoral basis, while the banking index tried to support the market by gaining 0.46%, the holding index diverged negatively with a loss of 1.33%.
The financial leasing and factoring sector became the top gainer of the day with a 2.92% increase, while holding and investment trust stocks were among those that lost the most value.
Technical Levels and Expectations Analysts emphasize that the 13,600 and 13,500 point levels are critical support zones for the BIST 100 index from a technical perspective.
It is stated that the 13,900 and 14,000 point resistances must be overcome for upward movements to gain strength.
High sensitivity to news flow and continued volatility are expected in the markets as geopolitical developments remain the primary driver of investor sentiment.
