Publication of Turkey's External Debt Statistics Transferred to CBRT

Publication of Statistics Transferred to CBRT The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) has announced a significant change in the publication process of external debt statistics.
Starting with the fourth quarter data of 2025, Turkey's external debt statistics will be published by the CBRT instead of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, beginning March 12, 2026.
Methodological Update and International Standards With the transfer of publication, a methodological change will be implemented in the compilation of external debt arising from security liabilities to ensure compliance with international standards.
In the new system, the residency of the party holding the security will be taken as the basis, rather than the country where the security was issued.
This change aims to ensure full alignment between the International Investment Position, Short-Term External Debt Statistics, and Turkey's External Debt Statistics.
Ending Redundant Publications To prevent overlaps in data sets, the CBRT will terminate the publication of "Private Sector Foreign Loan Debt Statistics" and consolidate this data under the title "Turkey External Debt Statistics." Additionally, a security-based method will be adopted for calculating security interest expenses within the scope of Balance of Payments Statistics.
This update will be reflected in the January 2026 Balance of Payments data to be released on March 12, 2026.
Household Expectation Survey (HBA) to Launch The Central Bank will share the results of the "Household Expectation Survey (HBA)," designed to measure the economic expectations of households, for the first time on February 24, 2026.
With the introduction of the HBA, the new survey data will be used instead of the "Consumer Tendency Survey" for 12-month-ahead inflation expectation data in the Sectoral Inflation Expectations (SEB) publication.
The SEB results for February will also be announced on the same day.
