Call for Revision of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission Mahmut Arslan, President of the Hak-İş Confederation, has made significant statements regarding the labor agenda, specifically criticizing the current structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission.
Arslan emphasized that the commission's structure must be reorganized to include representation from Türk-İş, Hak-İş, and other confederations to better reflect the demands of the workforce.
"This year, we urgently demand these regulations be made before the minimum wage meetings," Arslan stated, noting that the current minimum wage levels are far from meeting the expectations of employees.
He also highlighted high tax brackets, obstacles to union organization, occupational accidents, and informal employment as the most critical challenges facing the working class today.
May 1st Celebrations and 50th Anniversary Events As part of Hak-İş's 50th anniversary, Arslan announced a series of events titled "Turkey Meetings" to be held through October.
He revealed that May 1st, Labor and Solidarity Day, will be celebrated this year with a large-scale mass rally in Bursa.
Additionally, Arslan noted that Hak-İş is the labor confederation with the highest number of female members in Turkey, announcing the 15th International Women's Labor Meeting to be held in Ankara on March 5.
Rights of Domestic Workers and Democratic Stance Arslan also addressed the ongoing efforts to provide union organization for domestic workers, revealing that they have organized over 100,000 individuals in this sector.
He reiterated demands for these workers to be officially registered, included in the social security system, and brought under the scope of the Labor Law.
Concluding his remarks, Arslan touched upon the anniversary of the February 28 "postmodern coup," stating that the process caused significant losses for the country.
He reaffirmed the confederation's commitment to standing against any such interventions or coups in the future.
