Accreditation Processes and Sectoral Expansion According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, the Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) has received a total of 227 accreditation applications to date.
Following rigorous inspection and audit processes, 128 applications were approved, officially securing the halal certificates of more than 2,500 businesses.
The Ministry emphasized that the accreditation system ensures discipline in production and certification processes, significantly increasing consumer confidence.
In the new period, strategic sectors such as food service, food packaging, cosmetics, tourism, logistics, and accommodation have also been included in the scope of accreditation.
Laboratory Audits and New Import Regulations Halal certification processes now mandate not only religious compliance criteria but also health, hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
The compliance of these criteria is verified through impartial and competent laboratory analyses.
The goal for 2025 is to increase the number of accredited laboratories to reinforce quality assurance and contribute to Turkey’s export-oriented economy.
A new Import Communiqué currently in preparation plans for more effective inspection of halal certificates accompanying products and halal marks on products.
Once the communiqué enters into force, imports will not be permitted with halal certificates issued by organizations that do not hold HAK accreditation.
This regulation aims to protect consumers and raise trust standards to an international level.
International Cooperation and Training Center Identity To address the issue of redundant certification requirements and additional costs arising from different halal certification systems worldwide, the Islamic Forum of Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB) was established under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed with SMIIC, Turkey has become an international training center for halal quality infrastructure.
To date, over 1,600 participants from 35 countries have received expert training through 70 organized programs.
The certificates provided at the end of these programs are recognized by SMIIC and hold international validity.
