Sea Bass Drives Export Growth Turkey's seafood exports to the United States have demonstrated significant momentum over the past decade.
The export volume, which stood at $23 million in 2015, has risen to $95 million, representing a 313 percent increase based on current growth rates and 2025 projections.
Sea bass has emerged as the most sought-after Turkish seafood product in the U.S.
market.
Accounting for $68 million of the total exports, sea bass maintains its leadership with a 72 percent market share.
It is followed by sea bream and trout, each contributing approximately $8 million in export value.
Bedri Girit, President of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association, highlighted that Turkish Airlines' cargo capacity and tasting events organized with chefs from the American Culinary Federation played a critical role in this success.
Targeting One Percent of the U.S.
Market Industry representatives pointed out that the United States has a massive annual seafood import volume ranging between $26 billion and $32 billion.
The sector's short-term goal is to capture a one percent share of this market.
At a recent trade fair in Nevada, Turkey was represented by Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Sector Board of Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Associations, and Bedri Girit.
The delegation engaged in meetings aimed at increasing the market share of Turkish products.
The industry aims to strengthen its presence in the U.S.
market through high-value-added products.
