Project Scope and Distribution Conditions The “Abundance in the Countryside Small Ruminant Support Project,” announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, aims to revitalize the livestock sector and strengthen rural development.
Distribution plans will be tailored to regional breeding conditions, climate factors, and pasture structures.
The animals to be distributed must be between 6 and 18 months old.
Each eligible producer will receive a total of 100 small ruminants, consisting of 95 females and 5 males.
Financial Support and Application Timeline Applications are scheduled to begin in April, with animal deliveries expected to take place in the second half of the year.
The financial package offered to producers includes a grace period of up to 2 years and maturity options ranging from 5 to 7 years.
The project also provides the following supports: All distributed animals will be insured under TARSİM for one year.
A monthly maintenance and feeding support of 150 Turkish Liras per animal will be provided.
A producer with 100 animals can receive up to 15,000 Liras monthly, totaling 180,000 Liras annually.
Sectoral Views and Strategic Goals Turan Saldırıcıer, President of the Central Union of Turkish Sheep and Goat Breeders (TÜDKİYEB), stated that the project is a critical step for the sector.
Emphasizing that Anatolia's geographical structure is highly suitable for small ruminant farming, Saldırıcıer noted that the support would provide a significant contribution to the industry.
The project holds strategic value in preventing rural-to-urban migration and encouraging women and youth to take more active roles in production.
Maintaining production through scientific methods is considered of great importance for the future of the sector.
