Production Mobilization and Grant Support A sapling distribution ceremony was held in Şırnak as part of the "Şırnak Produces, Fruit Growing Develops Project," aimed at diversifying agricultural production and strengthening the local economy.
A total of 25,200 lemon, persimmon, olive, and pistachio saplings, provided with a 75% grant from the Şırnak Governorate Special Provincial Administration, were delivered to farmers during the event held at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Goal: 409,000 Saplings and Modern Irrigation Speaking at the ceremony, Şırnak Governor Birol Ekici emphasized that the total number of saplings distributed across the province since 2018 has reached 409,000.
Governor Ekici stated that new species suitable for the regional climate would be tested, noting that lemon saplings, which thrive in warm climates, will be planted specifically in the Cizre and Silopi districts.
Ekici also announced that a new drilling machine has been acquired by the Special Provincial Administration to support agricultural irrigation, making groundwater available for farmers' use.
New Agricultural Areas and Financial Incentives Oktay Sezgin, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, reported that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will provide a monthly support payment of 3,660 Turkish Liras to producers who establish fruit orchards of 3 decares or larger to encourage production.
Symbolic Planting and Hopes for Abundance Şırnak Mayor Mehmet Yarka expressed his wishes for a productive season.
Following a prayer by Provincial Mufti Arif Yeşiloğlu, the distribution of saplings continued.
At the end of the event, Governor Ekici planted an olive sapling in the institutional garden and provided its first watering.
The ceremony was attended by local administrators, political party representatives, and numerous producers.
