Economic Growth and Defense Industry Successes AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygılı met with business world representatives at a traditional iftar program hosted by MÜSİAD Izmir President Gökhan Temur.
Saygılı stated that the Turkish economy continues to grow despite global challenges, noting a 3.7% growth rate in the third quarter of last year and achieving 21 consecutive quarters of uninterrupted growth.
Drawing attention to the development in the defense and aerospace industry, Saygılı noted that defense exports, which were $248 million in 2002, rose to $10.554 billion in 2025.
He added that exporters utilized over 1 trillion lira in rediscount credits in 2025, emphasizing that production-oriented growth will continue.
Support Packages for Producers and Tradesmen Touching upon the incentives implemented by the government to protect production and employment, Saygılı reminded that Treasury-backed guarantee packages for SMEs have been put into effect.
He stated that 70% of farmers' credit costs and half of the credit costs for tradesmen are covered by the budget, and the minimum wage support provided to employers has been increased to 1,270 liras.
Saygılı mentioned that the monthly support per employee for SMEs maintaining their employment has been increased from 2,500 liras to 3,500 liras.
He also provided information about the HIT-30 Program, which targets high-tech production, and the increased rediscount credit limits for exporters.
Criticism of Izmir Local Government In his speech, Bilal Saygılı also addressed Izmir's local issues, arguing that the city faces problems such as infrastructure deficiencies, flooding, and environmental pollution.
Claiming that the current political mindset is inadequate in solving these problems, Saygılı stated that disruptions in local government are hindering the city's development.
