Selling Pressure Dominates BIST 100 Index The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul was unable to sustain its year-to-date upward momentum during the week of February 16-20.
Despite crossing the critical 14,000-point threshold last week, the index failed to establish a permanent floor above this level.
After attempting to hold above 14,000 points during the first three trading days, the index retreated due to intensified selling on Thursday.
It ended the week with a 1.74% loss, falling to 13,934.06 points.
Throughout the week, the BIST 100 followed a volatile course, testing a low of 13,718.14 and a high of 14,532.67 points.
On a sectoral basis, losses were widespread across the market.
The banking index fell by 1.64%, the industrial index by 2.60%, and the holding index by 2.90%, all finishing the week in negative territory.
Top Performing Stocks of the Week Among the companies included in the BIST 100 index, the top gainer of the week was Destek Finans Faktoring (DSTKF) with a 35.64% increase.
It was followed by Tr Anadolu Metal Madencilik (TRMET) with an 11.35% rise and Galatasaray (GSRAY) with an 8.94% gain.
Conversely, Girişim Elektrik (GESAN) topped the list of the week's biggest losers with a 16.70% decline.
Qua Granit (QUAGR) fell by 14.16% and Ral Yatırım Holding (RALYH) dropped by 13.51%, marking them as other significant companies that saw losses for investors.
Market Value and Trading Volume Leaders ASELSAN (ASELS) maintained its title as the most valuable company on Borsa Istanbul with a market value of 1 trillion 428 billion 420 million TL.
Kiler Holding (KLRHO) ranked second with 714 billion TL, while Garanti BBVA (GARAN) took third place with a market value of 662 billion 340 million TL.
In terms of trading volume, Turkish Airlines (THYAO) was the most traded stock of the week with 99 billion 847 million TL.
THYAO was followed in volume rankings by Aselsan with 68 billion 733 million TL and İş Bankası (ISCTR) with 56 billion 2 million TL.
