Sharp Decline in Borsa Istanbul: BIST 100 Index Drops 2.15%

Selling Pressure Dominates Borsa Istanbul The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul experienced a sharp retreat during the first half of the trading day on February 19, 2026.
The index closed the first part of the session at 13,953.30 points, representing a 2.15% loss in value.
After testing a daily high of 14,343.11 points, the index fell to its lowest level of the day at 13,953.30 points as selling pressure intensified.
The financial index, in particular, led the market decline with a 3% loss.
Other major sectors followed a similar pattern: Services index: -1.52% Industrial index: -1.36% Technology index: -0.29% General Stock Performance Among the stocks included in the BIST 100 index, only 11 recorded gains, while 88 lost value and one remained unchanged.
