Borsa Istanbul Issues Critical Regulatory Warning on Granular Silver Sales

Call for Compliance with Regulatory Provisions Borsa Istanbul A.Ş.
Precious Metals and Precious Stones Market Directorate has issued an official announcement reminding market participants of the regulatory provisions governing granular silver sales.
According to the announcement, under Decree No.
32 on the Protection of the Value of Turkish Currency, standard unprocessed silver must maintain a minimum purity of 99.9%.
Furthermore, these metals must be produced in the form of bars, ingots, or granules in accordance with the specifications determined by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
Legal Action Against Irregular Sales Following reports submitted to the Ministry and audits conducted online, it was determined that granular silver is being offered for sale in small transparent bags or plastic jars in violation of the legislation.
Borsa Istanbul stated that such sales carried out with non-standard packaging constitute a regulatory violation and that necessary legal proceedings will be initiated against those responsible.
Authorized Institutions and Sales Conditions According to the legislation, only standard unprocessed precious metals produced by the following institutions can be traded domestically: General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing House Refineries authorized by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance Foreign refineries included in the list published by Borsa Istanbul Only banks, authorized refineries, precious metals brokerage houses, and jewelry businesses authorized by the Ministry are permitted to carry out these transactions.
Mandatory Information on Packaging Legally compliant granular silver packaging must include the following information: Fineness (purity) information Net weight (excluding the bag) The refinery's title or logo The phrase "Granule Silver" or "Silver Granules" Production date Sector representatives and consumers have been warned not to put products that do not meet these standards into commercial circulation.
