Lawsuit Filed Over Unlawful Taxes US-based shipping and logistics giant FedEx has initiated legal proceedings seeking the refund of customs duties imposed by the federal government and subsequently invalidated by the US Supreme Court.
The company is requesting compensation for the financial damages incurred due to these tariffs, including legal interest.
Application to the Court of International Trade In the lawsuit filed with the US Court of International Trade, the company emphasized that tariffs applied under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) since February 2025 have caused significant financial losses.
FedEx stated that there is no longer a legal basis for the additional taxes collected during this period and requested the refund of the paid amounts.
Supreme Court Decision Sets Precedent The legal action is based on a critical decision made by the US Supreme Court on February 20.
The court ruled that the IEEPA does not grant the president the direct authority to impose customs tariffs, thereby removing the legal foundation for the additional taxes.
This lawsuit by FedEx is expected to serve as a guide for other commercial entities in similar situations and influence the federal government's tax refund policies.
