Taxation of In-Kind Income A new tax regulation significantly affecting digital content creation in Turkey is being implemented.
Prepared through a joint effort by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Commerce, the regulation brings in-kind (non-cash) income received by content creators from brands for promotional purposes into the scope of taxation.
How the New System Works Under the new system, the current market value of the product or service provided to the content creator will be taken as the basis.
This determined amount must be deposited in cash into the special bank account opened by the content creator under the Income Tax Law.
Automatic Tax Deduction A 15% income tax withholding will be automatically deducted from the gross amount deposited into the bank account and transferred to the state.
The remaining net amount after the deduction will be available for use by the content creator.
This regulation aims to prevent informality in the digital economy and to make taxation processes more transparent.
