Overwolf to Distribute $300 Million to Content Creators in 2025

Record Payout Plan for Content Creators In-game content platform Overwolf has announced that it will pay a total of $300 million to content creators by the end of 2025.
This figure represents a 25% increase compared to the $240 million distributed in 2024.
Since its inception, the company has paid out more than $800 million to creators developing mods, applications, and private servers for popular games such as Minecraft, The Sims, and Hogwarts Legacy.
Rising User Engagement and Mod Downloads Overwolf currently hosts 178,000 content creators and reaches 113 million monthly active users through its mod distribution hub, CurseForge.
According to platform data, the number of mod downloads is expected to exceed 32 billion in 2025, a 33% increase over the previous year.
Among the largest communities, Minecraft leads with 240,000 mods and 93 billion downloads, followed by The Sims with 100,000 mods and Ark: Survival Ascended with 5,100 mods.
Strategic Partnerships and New Projects The company continues to expand its collaborations with major game studios such as Warner Bros.
Games and Krafton.
While the creator kit released for Hogwarts Legacy has been downloaded more than 12 million times, mod support has also been integrated for Krafton's new life simulation game, inZOI.
Unlike closed ecosystems like Fortnite and Roblox, Overwolf adopts a decentralized approach by working directly with game studios to provide official modding tools.
Revenue Models and Future Goals The revenue models offered by the platform allow content creators to turn their hobbies into professional careers.
For instance, Francisco "Sandi" Montano, who develops mods for Ark: Survival Ascended, stated that he earns approximately $25,000 per month through premium options and advertising revenue.
Overwolf CEO Uri Marchand highlighted the growing role of content creators in the gaming industry and reiterated the goal of increasing the annual payout amount to $1 billion by 2030.
