WhatsApp Tests "Spoiler" Feature for Messages

WhatsApp is preparing to integrate a "spoiler" formatting feature that allows users to hide message content, similar to a function already available on Telegram.

WhatsApp Tests "Spoiler" Feature for Messages

With this new feature, senders can mask specific parts of their messages.
Recipients will be required to tap on the hidden content to reveal it.
This addition is designed not only to prevent spoilers for movies or books but also to provide a layer of privacy against prying eyes in crowded environments like public transportation.
Users will maintain full control over what is immediately visible on the screen.
Once the recipient opens the hidden content, it will remain accessible for future reference within the chat history.
Cross-Platform Support and Additional Updates The spoiler function is expected to be rolled out across all platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows, and the Web version.
While the feature is currently limited to beta testers, it is anticipated to be released to the general public shortly after the testing phase concludes.
In addition to the spoiler formatting, developers are reportedly working on other enhancements, such as a quick shortcut for status updates and a more advanced version of the desktop application.
