Abundance in the Countryside Project: 150,000 Small Ruminants and 15,000 TL Monthly Support for Producers

Project Scope and Objectives The implementation details of the "Abundance in the Countryside, Support for Small Ruminants" project, designed to encourage small ruminant livestock farming across Turkey, have been finalized.
In the first phase of the strategic plan covering 2026-2028, the goal is to deliver 150,000 small ruminants to producers within this year.
The project aims to ensure that young people and women play a more active role in rural production and to provide local employment for a trained workforce.
Support and Incentives for Producers Under the project, each eligible producer will be allocated a total of 100 small ruminants, consisting of 95 females and 5 males.
To alleviate the financial burden on producers, the state will cover the insurance costs for the distributed animals for the first year.
Additionally, breeders will receive a monthly cash support of 15,000 TL, totaling 180,000 TL annually, for the care and feeding of the animals.
Financing Model and Application Requirements Half of the 14.5 billion TL rural development budget set for 2026 will be allocated to young producers, women, and family businesses.
To ensure the sustainability of the production process, the loans provided will include a grace period of up to 2 years, with repayment structured over a total term of up to 7 years.
In addition to breeders whose current livestock numbers are below the specified limit, individuals who are new to the sector will also be eligible to apply for the project.
Animal Selection and Implementation Schedule The animals to be distributed will be selected from breeds with superior genetic characteristics, aged between 6 and 18 months, raised at General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) facilities.
Care will be taken to choose breeds most suitable for regional climate and terrain conditions.
Applications for the project are expected to begin as of April.
