Asım Güzelbey participated as a speaker at the International Historic Cities Conference held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The event, themed "Achieving Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in Historic Cities," took place in the historic city, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The conference was organized by the Croatian Association of Historic Towns and supported by the European Association of Historic Towns and Regions (Heritage Europe).
International organizations, including the Turkish Union of Historical Towns, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO, also contributed to the event.
EU 2020 Strategy and Growth Models In his presentation, Güzelbey addressed the core priorities of the EU 2020 strategy and summarized future economic models under three main headings.
He emphasized the importance of "Smart Growth" based on knowledge and innovation, "Sustainable Growth" based on resource efficiency, and "Inclusive Growth" aimed at high employment and social cohesion for historic cities.
Güzelbey stated that the primary goal of the meeting was to increase the resilience of historic cities against the global challenges of the 21st century and to evaluate their sustainable growth capacities.
Participants discussed examples of strategic priorities in local governments and how economic value can be created by preserving the historical fabric during the globalization process.
