Significant Decline in Expectations The Bahçeşehir University Economic and Social Research Center (BETAM) has released the results of its February 2026 research.
According to the report, household inflation expectations for one year ahead recorded a decrease of 4.5 points compared to the previous survey period, falling to 50.8%.
Research data shows that the proportion of those who predict that inflation will be lower than the current rate of 30.7% within the next year increased by 3.1 points compared to the previous month, reaching 34.4%.
The largest segment of participants, at 34.3%, anticipates that inflation will occur within the 21-40% range.
Demographic Data and Age Groups The decline in inflation expectations varied by gender.
Expectations among men decreased by 6 points to 49%, while expectations among women decreased by 1.5 points to 54.3%.
When examining age groups, expectations rose by 1.1 points in the 35-44 age group, while a decrease was observed in all other age groups.
The expectation rates by age group were as follows: 18-24 age group: 50% 25-34 age group: 50.1% 45-54 age group: 45.9% Over 65 age group: 54.2% In other social groups, expectations were recorded at 57.3% for students, 54.3% for those who are unemployed but not seeking work, 52.2% for the retired and non-working group, and 50.7% for private sector employees.
The rate was determined as 49.2% for the self-employed or employers, and 49.3% for those who are unemployed and seeking work.
