Weight Discrepancies Detected During Inspections Bilecik Municipality Police Department teams have intensified their inspections of bakeries during the month of Ramadan.
During the examinations, it was determined that a business was selling Ramadan pitas between 290 and 300 grams, despite the official standard set at 320 grams for 30 TL by the Bilecik Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen.
Measurements carried out by the police teams using precision scales confirmed that a large portion of the products fell below the legal weight limits.
Legal Action Taken and Products Donated Teams seized the underweight products and initiated legal proceedings against the business in accordance with the Law on Misdemeanors.
Providing details on the inspection, Police Director Mücahit Öndersev stated that the 2% margin of error allowed by regulations was exceeded at this establishment.
Öndersev emphasized that necessary legal processes were started after deficiencies of 15-20 grams were detected in the products.
To prevent waste, the underweight pitas seized during the inspections were delivered by authorities to "Sevgi Evleri" (state-run children's homes).
Municipal teams announced that periodic inspections regarding hygiene, licensing, and price tariffs in bakeries will continue to ensure that citizens are not victimized.
