The December data indicates that order traffic in the manufacturing sector lost momentum in the final month of the year.
Durable Goods Orders Data Data regarding durable goods orders for the same period was also announced.
Durable goods orders showed a decline of 1.4% in December.
Market analysts' expectations also pointed toward a 1.4% decrease in this category.
Consequently, both overall factory orders and durable goods orders closed the year with a decline, in line with economists' projections.
