Accident and Recovery Process In an incident that occurred last January in the Güzelbahçe district of Izmir, Gamze Oğuz, the AK Party Urla District Promotion and Media President, lost her balance and fell approximately 7 meters from her third-floor balcony.
Oğuz, who suffered serious fractures in her spine and heel as a result of the fall, was hospitalized and underwent two comprehensive operations.
Following the surgeries, her condition worsened, and she was intubated for a period.
After a stay in intensive care, she was eventually discharged.
Currently continuing her treatment at home and moving with the help of a walker, Oğuz stated that she faces a long process of physical therapy ahead.
Reaction to Cyberbullying Oğuz highlighted that the threats and insults directed at her, such as "I wish you had died," "I wish you had remained paralyzed," and "Tomorrow you might get hit by a car," have reached an unacceptable level.
Emphasis on Social Polarization Expressing that the cyberbullying has deeply affected both her and her children, who witnessed the accident, Oğuz stated that human values must take precedence over political views.
She expressed great sadness over the level of polarization in society and drew attention to the importance of the tradition of cooperation and tolerance in Anatolian culture.
Oğuz noted that the hate speech she was subjected to because of her political identity harms social peace, adding that such approaches are incompatible with ethical values.
