Huge benefit for hazelnut growers: Harvest costs fall 80%

Introduction In Ordu province, a new harvesting file designed for sloped fields is helping hazelnut growers cut their harvest costs by roughly 80%.
The system speeds up the process and reduces labor and equipment expenses.
Financial Support 2022‑2025 Between 2022 and 2025, 180 producers received a total of 21.72 million TL in subsidies.
2026 Targets By 2026, the program aims to support 425 producers, cover 9,105 dekar of hazelnut harvest fields, spend 96.4 million TL on the project, and provide 54.2 million TL in subsidies.
Producer Experiences Ordu Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Bayram Ay visited the orchard of Ihsan Coşar in Gülyalı to observe the harvesting file in action.
Ay noted that the device accelerates workflow on steep terrain and lowers costs.
Benefits of the Harvest File Hazelnuts fall directly onto the file, reducing contact with soil and preserving quality.
The method shortens harvest time and lightens the growers’ workload.
By sliding nuts onto the file, new shoots and branches are protected from damage.
Reduced soil contact in humid conditions lowers the risk of aflatoxin formation.
Future Plans In 2026, 163 new harvesting file applications were received and are under review.
If all are approved, an additional 4,000 dekar of fields will be equipped, requiring an estimated 48 million TL investment and 29 million TL in subsidies.
Producer Quote 'With the support we received, we were able to carry out hazelnut harvest more efficiently.
This year we harvested for the third time.' – Ihsan Coşar
