Strategic Cooperation in New Delhi India has officially joined the "Pax Silica" initiative, a U.S.-led strategic partnership, during a ceremony held at the 2026 AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
The signing ceremony was attended by India's Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Sergio Gor, the U.S.
Special Representative for South and Central Asia and Ambassador to India.
A Coalition of Trusted Technology and Capabilities Ambassador Sergio Gor emphasized that India's participation is a strategic necessity.
He described Pax Silica as a "coalition of capabilities that replaces coercive dependencies with a positive-sum alliance formed by trusted industrial bases." Gor stated that U.S.-India technology cooperation will drive AI innovation and adoption in the coming years, noting that peace stems from technological strength and sovereignty.
Scope of the Initiative and Global Partners Announced by the Washington administration in December 2025, the Pax Silica initiative aims to establish a reliable "silicon supply chain" in areas such as critical minerals, energy, and AI infrastructure.
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that the agreement would significantly contribute to India's electronics and semiconductor industries.
