Istanbul University Sociology Application and Research Center (IU-SAM) Established

Establishment and Primary Objectives The Sociology Application and Research Center (IU-SAM) has been officially established within Istanbul University following a regulation published in the Official Gazette.
The center is designed to organize training programs, workshops, seminars, and congresses, while producing periodic and non-periodic publications to disseminate scientific knowledge.
A significant focus of the center will be on digital sociology, big data analysis, and computational social sciences.
The regulation places particular emphasis on digital transformation processes, planning the development of technological tools and software to establish online research networks and digital interaction environments for researchers.
Management Structure and Legislative Changes The center's management organs will consist of a Director, an Executive Board, and an Advisory Board.
The seven-member Executive Board, chaired by the Director, will serve a three-year term.
The Advisory Board, which can include up to twenty members, will provide recommendations for the center's academic and application-based activities.
With the implementation of this new regulation, the 1960 Istanbul University Faculty of Letters Sociology Institute Instruction and the 1976 Istanbul University Faculty of Economics Sociology Institute Regulation have been repealed.
This legislative update aims to consolidate academic studies in the field of sociology under a modern and updated institutional framework.
