Mass Social Media Audit: 600,000 Accounts Reviewed

Scope of the Audit The Gendarmerie General Command conducted a review of 600,000 social media accounts in 2025, targeting offenses such as insults to the President, threats to the indivisible unity of the state and public safety, defamation of the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, its institutions, and crimes against Atatürk.
Review Process Out of the 600,000 accounts, 300,000 were analyzed.
During the process, 162,298 account holders were identified and their data was forwarded to judicial authorities.
Legal Outcomes Legal action was initiated against 210,234 individuals.
8,471 arrests were made, resulting in 496 detentions.
360 judicial control measures were applied.
6,615 individuals were released.
