New Sports Facility Opens in Eskişehir Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak attended the opening ceremony of the Anadolu University Yunus Emre Indoor Sports Hall as part of his visit to Eskişehir.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Bak stated that Turkey has reached world standards in sports facility development and is undergoing a major transformation in this field.
"We Are Experiencing a Sports Facility Revolution" Stating that massive investments have been made in sports infrastructure across Turkey, Minister Bak said the country is in the midst of a sports facility revolution.
Bak noted, "We have gained great momentum, especially with our modern stadiums, nearly 40 facilities at UEFA and FIFA standards, indoor sports halls, and swimming pools.
European, world, and Olympic champions will emerge from these facilities.
Turkey is rapidly progressing toward becoming a sports nation." Swimming Lessons for 12 Million People Discussing projects carried out to spread sports to the grassroots, Minister Bak mentioned the concrete results of swimming pool investments.
Noting that nearly a thousand Olympic and semi-Olympic pools have been built across Turkey, Bak announced that approximately 12 million young people have been taught to swim in the last six years.
Combating Addiction and Obesity Minister Bak drew attention to the importance of sports against obesity and digital addiction, which are among today's greatest social problems.
Inviting citizens of all ages to engage in sports to overcome health issues caused by a sedentary lifestyle, Bak emphasized the unifying and healing power of sports.
"Sports is the most effective tool in the fight against bad habits, especially digital addiction.
We aim to raise healthy, moral, and spiritually strong generations who grow up with sports." Following the opening speeches, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak and the accompanying delegation officially opened the facility by playing basketball and volleyball with children.
