Minister Ersoy Announces New $100,000 Support Model for Turkish TV Series

Strategic Meeting with Industry Leaders at AKM Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy met with leading producers and broadcasters at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) to strengthen the global success of Turkish TV series and integrate this influence into Turkey’s national promotion strategy.
During the meeting, details were finalized for a new support program providing up to the Turkish Lira equivalent of $100,000 for series broadcast internationally.
Criteria for Support Specific requirements have been established for productions seeking to benefit from the new support model.
According to the criteria discussed, a series must meet the following conditions to qualify for the incentive: Broadcast in at least 10 different countries across 3 continents.
Completion of at least 26 episodes in Turkey.
High viewership ratings.
Inclusion of elements promoting Turkey’s historical, cultural, natural, and gastronomic values.
Filming conducted in relevant local destinations.
Production within the last three years.
No history of penalties from the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK).
New Era in Promotion and Export Targets The Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) will be actively involved in the new model, aiming to leverage the massive audiences of these series to boost Turkish tourism.
As part of this strategy, 30-second promotional films, digital content, and drone footage will be integrated into the productions to showcase Turkey's attractions.
The government plans to increase the industry's current $1 billion export revenue to $1.2 billion through these new incentives and strategic collaborations.
Broad Consultation The meeting included high-level officials such as Chief Advisor Tayfun Topal, General Manager of Cinema Birol Güven, and TGA Chairman Timuçin Güler.
Representatives from major production companies including Ay Yapım, TİMS&B, Gold Yapım, Med Yapım, OGM Film, and Bozdağ Film, along with executives from national television channels, were also in attendance to discuss the implementation of the program.
