Ministry of Trade Conducts Ramadan Inspections Across 81 Provinces: Focus on Exorbitant Prices and Labeling

Simultaneous Inspection Mobilization Across 81 Provinces Ministry of Trade teams have intensified price inspections for basic food and essential products nationwide ahead of the month of Ramadan.
These efforts, aimed at preventing consumer grievances and controlling market price volatility, specifically target both local and national supermarket chains.
Comparison of Shelf and Checkout Prices Ankara Provincial Director of Trade, Elif Tan, stated that inspections are continuing uninterrupted in 81 provinces following the Ministry's instructions.
Teams are meticulously examining the purchase and sale prices of products in markets to determine if there are any unfair price increases.
Additionally, discrepancies between shelf prices and checkout prices remain a primary focus of the inspections.
Administrative Fines for Each Violation Irregularities identified during the inspections are reported to the Unfair Price Evaluation Board.
Based on the board's decisions, businesses found to be in violation of regulations face an administrative fine of 3,973 Turkish Liras for each detected violation.
The Ministry emphasized that inspections against exorbitant price increases will continue resolutely throughout the month of Ramadan.
