MÜSİAD Kayseri President Akmermer: "Kayseri Must Gain Independent Development Status"

Strategic Importance of the Develi-Adana Highway Ferhat Akmermer, President of the Kayseri Branch of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD), highlighted the strategic importance of the Develi-Adana Highway project for the city's economic future.
Akmermer noted that with Develi gaining Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) status, this route has become more critical than major highway projects, as its completion would shorten transportation distances by approximately 60 kilometers.
Akmermer argued that existing routes impose an additional logistics burden of over 850 million TL annually on industrialists.
He emphasized that completing the 13-kilometer asphalt work on the Develi, Tufanbeyli, and Kozan line would significantly reduce these costs.
Future Projections with the KAŞE Index Announcing the transition to the second phase of the Kayseri City Index (KAŞE) studies, Akmermer explained that data will now be transformed into future-oriented projections.
These reports, identifying the city's development momentum over the next one to five years, are intended to guide Kayseri's development roadmap.
The goal is to create a healthier roadmap by identifying deviations between previous forecasts and actual data.
Demand for Independent Development Status and Exporters' Union Akmermer criticized Kayseri's inclusion in the same region (TR 72) as Sivas and Yozgat in Socio-Economic Development Ranking (SEGE) studies.
He advocated for the city to be evaluated within an independent development plan, defining it as a unique "TR area" to ensure investment-based evaluations yield accurate results reflecting its industrial and urban potential.
Furthermore, Akmermer revealed that negotiations are underway with the Ministry of Trade for Kayseri to leave the Mediterranean Exporters' Association and establish its own exporters' union.
He added that this step is vital for the city's economic independence and local development.
