Parliamentary Draft and Payment Schedule The legal amendment concerning the holiday bonus increase for millions of SSK and Bağ‑Kur retirees is expected to be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) this week.
The bonus increase, a priority item on the presidential cabinet’s agenda, will enter the legislative process after the government determines the amount.
Payments are planned to be deposited into accounts during March, with the exact schedule to be announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Three Different Scenarios on the Table According to insider information, three possible formulas are being considered for the retirees’ bonus: First scenario: raise the current amount to 5,000 TL, representing a 25% increase.
Second scenario: raise the bonus to 5,500 TL.
Third and most strongly anticipated scenario: raise the bonus to 6,000 TL, which would amount to a 50% increase.
Situation of Widows, Orphans and Disability Beneficiaries The bonus increase will also be applied proportionally to widows, orphans and disability pension recipients.
For example, beneficiaries who receive a death allowance at a rate of 25% would see their current bonus rise to between 1,250 TL and 1,500 TL in line with the increase.
Retirees receiving pensions from multiple files will receive a single bonus payment based on the file that offers the highest amount.
Payment Process and Expectations The goal is to complete bonus payments before the holiday period.
If the legal amendment is not finalized in time, the difference resulting from the increase may be paid retroactively to accounts later.
