2026 Retiree Holiday Bonus: Hike Scenarios and Payment Schedule Emerge

Cabinet Meeting Focuses on Bonus Increases As the Ramadan Feast approaches, millions of retirees are looking toward the Cabinet Meeting to be held at the Presidential Complex.
Chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Cabinet is expected to finalize the increase rate for the holiday bonuses paid twice a year by the Social Security Institution (SGK).
Three Scenarios for the Bonus Amount Three different increase formulas are being considered for the holiday bonus, which was introduced in 2018 and implemented at 4,000 TL last year.
According to insider information, the first option involves adding 1,000 or 1,500 TL to the current amount, bringing the bonus to the 5,000 TL to 5,500 TL range.
If budget conditions allow, there is also the possibility of increasing the amount to 6,000 TL.
If the bonus is set at 5,000 TL, retirees will receive a total of 10,000 TL across two holidays; if it reaches 6,000 TL, the annual total will be 12,000 TL.
Payment Schedule and Beneficiaries With the 2026 Ramadan Feast falling on March 20-24, payments are projected to be completed between March 9 and March 14.
According to the draft schedule, Bağ-Kur retirees are planned to receive payments on March 9, Emekli Sandığı members on March 10, and SSK retirees between March 11-13.
In addition to those receiving retirement, old-age, duty disability, disability, and death pensions from SGK, the holiday bonus will also benefit relatives of martyrs, veterans, security guards, and champion athletes.
Following technical studies by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the regulation will be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) and will take effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
