Technical Levels and Expectations in Borsa Istanbul Economist Dr.
Nuri Sevgen evaluated the recent activity in Borsa Istanbul, stating that the 14,000-point level represents a critical threshold.
Noting that the index remaining above this level is a positive signal, Sevgen mentioned that recent declines have given way to a recovery as geopolitical risks related to Iran have balanced out.
Sevgen emphasized that as long as the index does not fall below the 21-day exponential moving average (approximately 13,700), the upward projection remains intact, maintaining a long-term target of 20,000 points.
Concerns Over Bond Requirements in Hedge Funds Addressing a new draft law, Dr.
Sevgen noted that the planned requirement for hedge funds to purchase bonds has created unease in the sector.
In this market, which has a volume of approximately 2.5 trillion lira, investors typically prefer hedge funds specifically because they lack bond requirements.
Sevgen warned that if the draft becomes law in its current form, the distinction between hedge funds and money market funds could effectively disappear.
Global Markets and 'Buy' Signal for Silver Regarding global markets, Sevgen stated that US regulations and post-Trump expectations have put the market into a waiting mode.
However, he drew particular attention to silver in the commodities sector.
Arguing that there is a clear "buy" signal for silver, Sevgen stated that as long as prices remain above the $82.8 - $83 level, the upward movement could continue, with targets exceeding $100.
He advised investors to use stop-loss orders for short-term trades.
Foreign Investors and Contract Rollover Volatility While no major exit of foreign investors is currently observed, Sevgen noted that geostrategetic and legal frameworks must become clearer for permanent inflows.
He predicted that inflows could accelerate as tensions with Iran decrease.
Reminding investors that the final trading week for February contracts has begun, Sevgen warned that volatility might increase due to rollover transactions.
He recommended that investors focus on companies with high dividend yields and strong correlation with the index.
