Dörtyol-Hassa Project Begins: Amanos Mountains to be Crossed via 20-Kilometer Tunnels

Strategic Transport Axis and Tunnel Works Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu conducted an on-site inspection of the Dörtyol-Hassa Railway and Highway Project, which holds critical importance for regional trade and logistics networks.
The most significant component of the project consists of three tube tunnels, approximately 20 kilometers in length, passing beneath the Amanos Mountains.
Minister Uraloğlu announced that along with the tunnel works, the total length of the railway line will be 55 kilometers, while the highway will span 25 kilometers.
This massive infrastructure investment aims to transform the transportation landscape of the region.
Connecting the Middle Corridor to the Mediterranean Upon completion, the project will strengthen the connection between the Middle Corridor route and the Mediterranean.
This integration is expected to increase logistical efficiency and accelerate access to ports for industrial centers in the region.
The new transport axis will offer fuel and time savings by providing significant shortcuts over existing routes.
Significant Savings in Distances According to Ministry data, the new project will lead to substantial reductions in travel distances.
The planned changes to the routes are as follows: The 77.3-kilometer Kırıkhan-İskenderun-Dörtyol route will be shortened by 15.27 kilometers.
The 121-kilometer Nurdağı-Osmaniye-Dörtyol route will be shortened by 20.60 kilometers.
A reduction of 53.4 kilometers will be achieved on the Dörtyol-Kırıkhan-Hassa line.
The railway distance between Payas and Fevzipaşa will decrease by 29.6 kilometers.
