Rigorous Evaluation and Rejections Following meticulous inspections, more than 70 applications that failed to meet the minimum requirements were rejected.
These decisions, taken in line with the Halal Accreditation Agency's (HAK) vision of becoming a center of trust in the trade of halal products and services, have officially secured the halal certificates of more than 2,500 businesses.
Officials emphasized that the system ensures discipline in both production and certification processes, significantly increasing consumer confidence.
Laboratory Accreditation and Quality Standards For a product to receive a halal certificate, compliance with religious rules alone is not considered sufficient; products must also meet health, hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
These compliance processes are verified through impartial and competent laboratory analyses.
As part of its 2025 strategic goals, HAK plans to further strengthen its quality assurance system by accrediting numerous laboratories.
This initiative aims to elevate the international validity and reliability of analysis processes to the highest level.
Strict Inspection Period for Imported Products While the halal certification system in Turkey is based on a voluntary principle, new regulations are being implemented to protect consumers regarding imported products.
Under the upcoming new Import Communiqué, halal certificates accompanying products and halal marks on packaging will be subject to more effective inspection.
Once the communiqué enters into force, imports will not be permitted with halal certificates issued by organizations that do not hold HAK accreditation.
This step is expected to raise trust standards in the market and prevent unfair competition.
Goal of a Single Certificate in Global Trade Increasing its international influence, HAK continues its efforts for the mutual recognition of certificates through the International Halal Accreditation Forum (IFHAB).
Through this cooperation, the agency aims to pave the way for global trade with a single halal certificate obtained in Turkey, thereby increasing the competitiveness of Turkish exporters in the world market.
