New Sports Facility Inaugurated in Eskişehir Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak attended the opening ceremony of the Yunus Emre Sports Hall, built on the Yunus Emre Campus of Anadolu University.
Describing Eskişehir as a sports city, Minister Bak emphasized that revolutionary investments have been made in sports infrastructure across Turkey.
Under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while aiming to spread sports to the grassroots, nearly 40 stadiums meeting UEFA standards, as well as thousands of sports halls and swimming pools, have been put into service nationwide.
Combating Addiction and Healthy Living Drawing attention to the social benefits of sports, Minister Bak stated that sports play a critical role in combating obesity and sedentary lifestyles, which are problems of the modern age.
Stating that sports are the most effective tool to protect young people from digital addiction and bad habits, Bak announced that approximately 12 million people have been taught to swim in the last six years within the scope of the "No One Left Without Swimming" project.
The Minister expressed his belief that the opened facilities will train future European, world, and Olympic champions.
Youth Investments and Dormitory Capacity Referring to the student potential in Eskişehir, Minister Bak announced that the foundation for a new student dormitory with a capacity of 3,000 people will be laid in the city within this year.
Reminding that the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) has reached a capacity of 1 million beds across Turkey, Bak stated that the accommodation and free nutrition opportunities offered to young people are unparalleled globally.
The ceremony concluded with wishes for success to Eskişehirspor and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
