Organization of Islamic Cooperation to Hold Emergency Meeting Over Israel's West Bank Annexation Plans

Annexation and Settlement Policies on the Agenda The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that an extraordinary meeting at the level of foreign ministers will be held on February 26, following a request from the State of Palestine.
The meeting will comprehensively address Israel's steps aimed at altering the legal, political, and demographic structure of Palestinian territories, as well as practices that undermine the vision of a two-state solution.
Controversial Land Registration Plan The Israeli government's decision to register certain lands in the West Bank as "state land" forms the primary agenda item of the meeting.
For the first time since 1967, the Israeli administration plans to initiate a large-scale land registration process in the region.
The plan, prepared by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, involves the registration of land ownership in Area C, which constitutes approximately 61 percent of the West Bank.
Diplomatic Coordination and International Law In line with the approved strategy, the goal is to gradually register approximately 15 percent of Area C by 2030 and to restrict the Palestinian Authority's jurisdiction in the region.
The OIC emphasizes that these initiatives are contrary to international law and aims to ensure political and diplomatic coordination among member states.
At the conclusion of the meeting, joint steps to be taken against Israel's settlement policies are expected to be finalized.
