Emergency Meeting at Palestine's Request The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that an extraordinary meeting will be held at the level of foreign ministers following a request from the State of Palestine.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, February 26, will primarily focus on Israel's expansionist policies in the West Bank.
Joint Strategy Against Annexation Attempts During the meeting, participants will evaluate a roadmap to counter Israel's unlawful settlement and annexation decisions, as well as practices aimed at altering the legal, political, and demographic structure of the region.
The OIC emphasized that such steps undermine efforts for a two-state solution and will discuss measures to be taken within the framework of international law.
Land Registration and Property Changes One of the most critical topics of discussion will be the decision by Israeli authorities to register certain lands in the West Bank as "state land." This land registration process, initiated for the first time since 1967, was implemented through a proposal submitted by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.
This move aims to fundamentally change the property structure in the region.
Area C and 2030 Targets Under the new regulation, lands in Area C—which constitutes approximately 61 percent of the West Bank and is under full Israeli control—are planned to be registered as "state property." This process, which includes property registration, sales permits, and fee collection, effectively bypasses the Palestinian Authority's jurisdiction in the region.
According to data in the Israeli press, the goal is to gradually register approximately 15 percent of Area C by the year 2030.
