Operational Activity Despite Rising Costs 12-month data released by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure showed that the passenger transport sector grew by 9 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year.
The sector maintained its operational momentum during a period of struggling with increases in fuel, maintenance, spare parts, and personnel expenses, as well as difficulties in accessing financing and a decline in purchasing power.
According to 2025 data, a total of 15,636,950 trips were carried out in intercity bus transportation, while the number of passengers carried was recorded as 162,956,867.
Passenger Record Broken in Summer Months When transportation data is analyzed, it is observed that demand rose significantly between June and September.
August became the busiest period of the year with 1,904,983 trips and 20,131,716 passengers.
Summer mobility peaked with 19.1 million passengers carried in July and 18.2 million in June.
The data revealed that scheduled transportation stood out in terms of passenger numbers, while non-scheduled transportation gained weight in the number of trips.
Sectoral Structure and 2026 Expectations When data from 2024 and 2025 are evaluated together, it is observed that the sector is evolving into a structure where demand is strengthening and occupancy rates are rising.
This process, characterized by increased institutionalization and the maintained investment appetite of large-scale firms, brings relatively positive expectations for 2026.
Sector representatives emphasize that increasing demand despite cost pressures is critical for sustainable growth.
