Siirt Municipality Responds to 'Orhan Doğan Park' Claims: Name Change Allegations Denied

Municipality Responds to Allegations Siirt Municipality has issued an official statement regarding allegations that the name of Kurdish politician Orhan Doğan was removed from the signage of Orhan Doğan Park.
The municipality management stated that these claims do not reflect the truth and that a standard renewal and modernization effort is being carried out for park signs across the city.
Earlier reports in the media had suggested that the municipality, currently under trustee management, had removed the phrase "Orhan Doğan City Park" from the sign located in the Barış Neighborhood.
The park, constructed in 2013, was originally opened with the participation of local government and political representatives of that period.
Maintenance and Repair Works In a statement made by the Siirt Municipality Directorate of Parks and Gardens, it was explained that signs that had reached the end of their useful life and whose text had become illegible were being replaced.
The statement included the following information: "In this context, the signs for Orhan Doğan Park, Botan Park, and Mehmet Sincar Park have been renewed with modern and durable designs.
There is absolutely no question of removing or changing the names of our parks." Political Context and Current Status Following the local elections on March 31, 2024, Governor Dr.
Kemal Kızılkaya was appointed as a trustee to the Siirt Mayor's office in January 2025.
While the park in question remains one of the important social areas in the region, municipal officials emphasized that the renovation works aim to improve the aesthetic appearance of the city.
